Initial Editorial Screening
Each manuscript is initially screened by the Editor to assess its fit with the journal’s scope and minimum quality standards.

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed by at least two independent experts with relevant subject-matter expertise.
Editorial Decision Categories
Editorial decisions fall under the following categories:
- Desk Reject: Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope, quality threshold, or ethical requirements
- Reject after Review: Manuscripts that undergo peer review but are found unsuitable for publication
- Major Revision: Manuscripts with promising contributions but requiring substantial conceptual, theoretical, or methodological improvement
- Minor Revision: Manuscripts requiring limited clarification, refinement, or presentation improvements
- Accept: Manuscripts meeting all scholarly and ethical standards
Revision Policy
- MRIST adopts a disciplined yet developmental approach to revisions:

- Revised submissions must include a detailed response-to-reviewers document, clearly indicating how each comment has been addressed.
Decision Timelines
Desk rejection decisions are typically communicated within a short time frame to allow authors to pursue alternative outlets promptly.
Director’s Note
“Research means that you don’t know, but are willing to find out.”
— Charles F. Kettering, American engineer and inventor
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the inaugural issue of Management Research: Innovation, Sustainability and Technology (MRIST). This publication marks a significant milestone for the Kirloskar Institute of Management, Pune, as we embark on a journey to cultivate a robust research culture and establish a distinguished platform for disseminating high-quality scholarly work.
Editorial Independence
MRIST is editorially independent and committed to publishing original, high-quality research that aligns with its interdisciplinary and behavioural orientation. Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, relevance to the journal’s aims, theoretical contribution, methodological soundness, and practical significance.
Peer Review Policy
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed. Each manuscript is initially screened by the Editor to assess its fit with the journal’s scope and minimum quality standards. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed by at least two independent experts with relevant subject-matter expertise.
Research Ethics and Integrity
MRIST adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics. Authors are expected to ensure that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another journal.
Ethics Approval and Informed Consent
Studies involving human participants (including surveys, interviews, and experiments) must have received appropriate institutional ethics approval, and authors should confirm this in the manuscript.
Data Availability and Transparency
Authors are required to include a data availability statement indicating whether and how the data supporting the findings can be accessed.
Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct
All submissions may be screened for plagiarism. Any form of academic misconduct will result in rejection or retraction, as appropriate Journal.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the research.
Authorship and Contribution Criteria
MRIST requires a clear author contribution statement specifying the role of each author in the research and manuscript preparation. Authorship should reflect substantial scholarly contributions.
Declaration of Generative AI Use
Authors must declare the use of generative AI in the manuscript preparation process upon submission of the paper. Authors should not list or cite AI tools as authors or co-authors, because authorship involves accountability and intellectual responsibility that are exclusively human.
Appeals, Corrections, and Retractions
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a reasoned justification. The Editor’s decision on appeals is final. The journal follows established procedures for issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
Role and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations that help authors improve their manuscripts and assist editors in making fair editorial decisions. Reviews should assess both scholarly rigor and practical relevance, particularly in relation to behavioural decision-making, innovation, sustainability, and technology.
Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts on the following dimensions:
- Relevance and Fit: Alignment with the journal’s aims, scope, and behavioural, cross-disciplinary orientation.
- Originality and Contribution: Novel theoretical insights, empirical contributions, or practical relevance.

- Provide unbiased evaluations irrespective of authors’ nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, or career stage
Review Style and Tone
MRIST encourages a developmental review approach, particularly for interdisciplinary and emerging research areas. Critiques should be specific, evidence-based, and framed to help authors strengthen their work rather than merely justify rejection.

- Acknowledge reviewers annually.
